Al Hilal beat Al Ahly 1-0 in the CAF Champions League

CAIRO, 19 February 2023: Al-Ahly lost from Al-Hilal of Sudan, 1-0 in the match that was held on Saturday afternoon, at the Blue Jewel Stadium, Omdurman, in Sudan, in the group stage matches of the African Champions League.
 
Al-Hilal’s goal was scored by Macabe Lilibo in the 54th minute through a free kick. The Sudanese team also missed a penalty kick that was saved by Al-Shennawi, thus leaving Al-Ahly without points in this group, as its first match in the group stage against Cameroonian Cotton was postponed due to the Red’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, while the Sudanese team scored three points after losing the first round against Sundowns.
 
The match was refereed by Mauritanian referee Beda Dahani, assisted by Hamdin Diba, first assistant, Youssef Mohamed Mahmoud, second assistant, and Babacar Sarr, fourth referee.
 
The formation of Al-Ahly included: Muhammad Al-Shennawi, Muhammad Hani, Muhammad Abdel-Moneim, Yasser Ibrahim, Ali Maaloul, Hamdi Fathi, Aliou Dieng, Hussein Al-Shahat, Ahmed Abdel-Qader, Taher Muhammad Taher and Percy Tau.
