Al Ahly face Real Madrid in FIFA Club World Cup Semi-finals

CAIRO, 8 February 2023: Al Ahly will enter the most important match in their history when they face the Spanish giants Real Madrid at the “Prince Moulay Abdullah” stadium in Rabat in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup at 09:00 PM Cairo local time.
 
Al Ahly look for a remarkable qualification to the final match against Saudi Al Hilal who defeated Brazililan Flamengo in the other side of FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.
 
Many are considering this clash as The Clash of the Century as Al Ahly & Real Madrid were Club of the Century in their continents.

Al Ahly was able to qualify for the semi-finals after their victory in the first round over Auckland City, New Zealand, 3-0. And then the American club Seattle Sounders, 1-0.
 
On the other hand, Real Madrid is playing its first match in the tournament, starting from the semi-finals, as the European Champions League title holder.
 
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) revealed that the refereeing staff, who will run the Al Ahly and Real Madrid match, will be from Uruguay, led by Andres Matonte, and assisted by his compatriots Nicholas Taran and Martin Sopi, and with them the fourth referee, Evan Barton from El Salvador.
 
In the video referee room, the Colombian Nicholas Gallo is assisted by the Venezuelan Juan Soto, the American Kathryn Nesbitt as a video referee for offside, and the Mexican Fernando Guerrero as a backup video referee.

Al-Ahly previously played in the Club World Cup semi-finals four times. The first was in 2006 edition, and Al-Ahly won the first bronze medal in their history over the Mexican Club America.
 
The second was in 2012, and Al-Ahly ranked fourth, and the third was the 2021 edition, and Al-Ahly won the bronze medal for the second time in their history over the Brazilian Palmeiras.
 
The last time was in 2022, when Al-Ahly won the bronze medal for the third time in their history after thrashing Saudi club, Al Hilal, 4-0.
 
Al-Ahly is participating in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, for the eighth time in their history, and the third in a row, and the Red devils participated in 7 previous editions in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2020 and 2021.
