CAIRO - 28 July 2022: Al Ahly achieved a 1-0 win over Misr Lel Makkasa on Wednesday night in the Egyptian League to keep up the chase with Zamalek and Pyramids FC for the domestic title.

Aliou Dieng's perfect shot in the 23rd minute that found the back of the net was enough for the Red Devils, who lost Mohamed El Shenawy during the match for injuries.

Al Ahly's victory was their second in a row since losing the Cup final to Zamalek and they managed to cut the gap with their arch-rivals, Zamalek, to six points but Al Ahly still have one game in hand.

"It was a very tough game and I am happy that we won the three points. It is not easy to play every three days. This schedule does not allow us to train the players." Al Ahly manager Ricardo Soares stated after the game.

Al Ahly's medical staff announced after the match that El Shenawy is in a good condition and his head injury will be assessed on Thursday before the training.

On the other hand, Pyramids FC defeated National Bank SC 1-0 on Wednesday with Ramadan Sobhy scoring the winning goal and they are now only one point behind Zamalek, who will face Future FC on Thursday night.
