CAIRO -23 June 2022: After a draw last Sunday in the Cairo derby against Zamalek, Al Ahly achieved a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla on Wednesday night in the Egyptian League in a dramatic match.

The Devils, who are four points behind the league leaders Zamalek with three games remaining, fought to avoid losing another two points as the game was in a 1-1 draw till the final two minutes of the match.

Mohamed Sherif, Al Ahly's striker, received a fantastic pass from Ziad Tarek and he was in the right position to put the ball in the back of the net and guide his team to an important win.

"It was a difficult game and we are in a very tough stage of the season and you have to fight every match to win. Also, the injuries of many key players who did not play tonight affected our performance."Samy Komsan, Al Ahly's interim manager, said after the game.

Zamalek completed their excellent week with an important win over National Bank SC thanks to their Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri.

Zamalek were one goal behind after 10 minutes of the second half but the Tunisian striker saved the three points for his side with two goals.

"I am so happy that I helped the team win the game. I always do my best to help the team. It is an important win in our journey to defend the league title." Jaziri said after the game.
