CAIRO –13 July 2017: Dani Alves signing for Paris Saint Germain was a shock to Pep Guardiola, as Alves was linked to rejoin his former Barcelona coach at Manchester City.

Alves talked on Wednesday about his reasons for preferring Paris over Manchester City, saying, “PSG hasn't yet won the Champions League, and I have the goal of winning that here. I'm only 34 and I still have a lot to do,” according to Marca.com.

Asked about his former Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola, after rejecting his offer to join him in Manchester City, he answered, “It is true that I've often said that the Premier League is a division that is very attractive to me, and if Guardiola feels hurt, then I apologize to him. I take responsibility for my decision."

Alves, 34 years, played under Guardiola in Barcelona for four years, winning together two Champions League titles.

Alves signed a 2-year contract with Paris to start a new chapter in his soccer career.
