CAIRO-1 January 2022: Rodri, Manchester City Spanish midfielder, scored a last-gasp winner to secure a 2-1 win for his team over Arsenal on Saturday in the English Premier League.

Emirates Stadium in London hosted a highly-charged showdown between the leaders, Manchester City, and the fourth-placed, Arsenal, who missed their head coach Mikel Arteta for COVID-19.

The home team opened the score in the first half thanks to Bukayo Saka’s sensational finish but their lead was cancelled out by a goal from Riyad Mahrez from the spot.

The visitors secured the game points with a last-minute goal from Rodri, who found the net from a close range, helping his team return to Manchester with three points in the bag.

Arsenal fans felt after their team’s performance in the match that they deserved to get at least a draw but the experience of the defending champions was key in their fight to win the match.

Manchester City are now atop of the table with 11 points ahead of the second-placed, Chelsea, who host the third-placed, Liverpool, on Sunday in London.
