CAIRO-12 November 2021: Mali became the third country to secure a place in the final round of the 2022 African World Cup qualifiers alongside Morocco and Senegal.

The Eagles defeated Rwanda 3-0 on Thursday away from home with three goals from Moussa Djenepo, Ibrahima Kone and Kalifa Coulibaly, extending the gap with the second-placed Uganda to four points with one game remaining.

The Malian fans did not expect what happened as they were waiting for the final game of the group against Uganda to decide the ticket winner. However, an unexpected draw in Kigali between Uganda and Kenya sent them to the final round.

In Johannesburg, South Africa defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 thanks to Teboho Mokoena's goal to take a huge step towards the final round as their group rivals Ghana were held to a draw against Ethiopia.

The South Africans lead the group with 13 points while Ghana comes second with 10 points and the two teams will face off in Ghana in the last group stage game to decide who will reach the final round.
