CAIRO-6 November 2021: Al Ahly defeated Zamalek 5-3 on Friday night to secure a historic win in a thrilling game at Cairo International Stadium.

In the first half of the game, Al Ahly had a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Aliou Dieng, Ali Maaloul and Mohamed Sherif.

Sherif’s goal is one of the best goals ever scored in the derby as Sherif’s touch met El Soulia’s rabona and found the back of the net.

In the second half, Mostafa Fathy scored a beautiful strike in the first five minutes after the break, reviving his team’s hopes in the game. However, the response was quick from the Reds as Dieng found the net again with a sensational shot from a long range.

Al Ahly’s attempts to score did not stop and they added the fifth through Maaloul from the penalty spot.

Zamalek fought back despite Al Ahly’s big lead and they managed to add two late goals through Ahmed Sayed Zizo from a penalty and Achraf Bencharki’s beautiful shot from inside the box.

Zamalek continued their attempts to narrow the gap in the score and they were close in two occasions but the referee’s final whistle came to announce a historic win for the Red Devils.

Al Ahly jumped to the top of the table with 9 points while Zamalek stayed third in the table with 6 points.
