CAIRO-5 November 2021: The referees committee announced on Thursday that Mohamed Adel will be in charge of the Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek on Friday night.

Adel will be assisted by Ahmed Hossam and Youssef Al Basaty while Amin Omar will be the fourth referee for the match.

For the third game in a row, the Cairo derby will see Egyptian referees in charge of the biggest game in the country.

“Having an Egyptian referee in charge of the biggest game in the country for the third straight occasion is a great success and reflects the trust that we have in our referees.” Essam Abdelfattah, head of the referees committee, stated on Wednesday.

Adel officiated Al Ahly's opening game in the league this season against Ismaily at Borg El Arab Stadium and Al Ahly managed to win the game 4-0.

Al Ahly and Zamalek have had a strong start to the season with the two teams achieving six points out of their first two matches in the competition.
