CAIRO-31 October 2021: Al Ahly achieved a difficult 1-0 win over National Bank SC on Sunday night in the Egyptian League., which is Al Ahly’s first ever win over the newly-founded team, who is participating in the top tier for the second season.

The Red Devils put on a poor performance and their defense helped them avoid dropping points against National Bank SC, who were the better side in the game.

Al Ahly failed to find the net in the first half as they face strong defense and their only goal in the game was scored by the team’s substitute Mohamed Sheirf with a follow up as the National Bank’s goalkeeper, failed to control Amr El Soulia’s shot.

The last 30 minutes of the game witnessed continuous attempts from the visitors to level the score but they could not as they were not sharp in front of the goal.

“It is an important win ahead of the derby. We were determined to win. Our focus now turns to the Cairo derby on Friday. We faced a strong team. They stood in the back and we changed the game plan in the second half to break their defense. It is our role to deal with different scenarios during the matches.” Sami Komsan, Al Ahly’s assistant coach, said after the game.

The Red Devils share the top of the table with Zamalek and Pyramids, all level on six points after two games.

Al Ahly and Zamalek will face off on Friday at Cairo Stadium in the third week of the Egyptian League.
