CAIRO-28 October 2021: Barcelona have announced on Thursday that Barcelona B coach Sergi Barjuan will be the head coach of the club's first team after the club sacked Ronald Koeman on Wednesday night after losing 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano.
"His interim position as first team head coach shall end as soon as the club has hired full-time head coach to replace the dismissed Ronald Koeman." Barcelona statement added.
Sergi, born in Catalonia, is remembered for his stint at the Catalan giants as he joined the club youth team at 17 and stayed at the club for more than 14 years, including 9 years with the first team.
He is the head coach of the club's second team and he will be now in charge of the club's senior squad till the signing of a new head coach.
There are many candidates for the job but all the reports from Catalonia are claiming that the club's legend Xavi Hernandez is leading the race.
The Azulgrana have been struggling this season in the domestic league as they are in the ninth position in LaLiga standings.
