CAIRO - 9 July 2017: The American firm Iconiq Capital which is backed by the founder and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, has bid to buy Tottenham Hotspur football club recently.

The San Francisco-based company which runs Zuckerberg’s funds has offered to buy the U.K. Premier League team for £1 billion ($1.2 million), The Sun newspaper reported.

In 2010 the American rapper Snoop Dogg talked with Zuckerberg to convince him to help the rapper to buy a sports club, adding that the huge financial returns from Premier League television made the league more attractive to foreign buyers and investors, according to The Sun.

The newspaper added that the billionaire Joe Lewis, the owner of Tottenham Hotspur, rejected an earlier offer worth £882.6 million to buy the club as he reportedly wants a £2 billion offer to sell.
