Cairo-16 July 2021: South African giants Kaizer Chiefs will appear in the CAF Champions League final for the first time in the club's history and their Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi believes that his team is ready to win the title.

"We are ready to make history, we are ready to break history. Every single player knows what is obtainable and what the target is. Everyone is fired up and ready to go to achieve the dreams of the team and the dreams of our supporters." The Nigerian goalkeeper told the club's official website.

Akpeyi established his name as the hero of the club's fans after he led his team to the final, having secured six straight clean sheets in their route to the final.

The Nigerian goalkeeper added "For me firstly, the main target is always to win a match when I take the field of play. If a clean sheet comes, fine, but I just know that it has helped us to be in a good position and that we are doing well."

Kaizer Chiefs, who secured their spot in the quarter-finals in Matchday 6, took the Champions League by storm after defeating two of the biggest title contenders, Simba SC and Wydad Casablanca.

The South African giants hope to avoid what happened in 2002 in their only meeting with Al Ahly when the Red Eagles won 4-1 at home and achieved the CAF Super Cup title.
