Zamalek won the Egyptian Volleyball Cup title for the first time since 2015 after defeating Al Ahly 3-2 on Friday night at Suez Canal Authority hall.

The White Knights took their revenge after losing the league title to Al Ahly in the last game of the season.

Zamalek had the upper hand in the beginning of the game and outclassed their opponents, who struggled to match the performance of Zamalek players.

Zamalek won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-18, taking a huge step towards achieving the title.

However, Al Ahly players pulled off a magnificent comeback in the third and fourth sets, which ended 25-22 and 26-24, forcing a fifth set to decide the winner of the final.

Al Ahly players were keen to complete their comeback and complete the domestic double. They took an early lead in the fifth set but Zamalek players stood their ground and went to the technical timeout leading by two points.

Zamalek extended their lead after the time out achieving four points in a row to win the fifth set 15-10, achieving the sixth Cup title in the club’s history.
