CAIRO – 5 July 2017: Pep Guardiola, current Manchester City manager, talked Wednesday about his favorite player in Manchester United, his team rivals, and Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

“He’s the best player I’ve ever seen,” Guardiola told reporters about Messi during a charity event in Belfast. “The best of him is not what he does, but the ease with which he does it.”

Guardiola added, “He does everything right. Simple, but all good; he never deceives.”

Asked about his favorite player in Manchester United, he chose a player from the past, saying, “Paul Scholes is my favorite player from Manchester United.”

Guardiola, 46 years old, is a long term admirer of the Manchester United midfielder. He talked about him before the 2011 Champions League Final when Barcelona, coached by Guardiola, won over Scholes’ team, Manchester United, 3-1.

“He is the best midfielder of his generation. I would have loved to have played alongside him," he said, according to goal.com.
