CAIRO-1 May 2021: Al Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw against El Gouna on Friday night in the Egyptian League at Al Ahly stadium.

The Red Devils opened the score in the second half by their substitute Taher Mohamed Taher while the visitors equalized the score thanks to a late header from Mohamed Naguib.

"It was our lowest performance in the last four matches. We did not play with the right intensity. We did not play well in the first half. We needed to end the game in the first half but we failed to do that." Al Ahly's head coach Pitso Mosimane said after the game.

Al Ahly, the league title holders, failed to get an advantage from their arch-rivals Zamalek's draw against Arab Contractors on Thursday night.

El Gouna's head coach Reda Shehata reflected on his team's draw with Al Ahly, saying "We were the better side especially in the second half. We stopped several key players at Al Ahly and played our game in the second half and we managed to equalize the score."

Zamalek are leading the league table with 40 points, three points ahead of Al Ahly, who still have two games in hand.

El Gouna come in the 9th position in the standings with 25 points after 19 games.
