CAIRO-15 April 2021: Al Ahly and Zamalek booked their places in the Egyptian Cup round of 16 after a strong start to the competition.

Al Ahly, the defending champions, achieved a 2-1 win over second-tire side, Al Nasr at Alexandria stadium.

The Red Devils' veteran Walid Soliman opened the score in the game at the last minute of the first half before picking up an injury in his hamstring muscle that forced him to leave in the second half.

Al Nasr equalized the score by Ahmed El Saidy in the second half but the defending champions put an end to Al Nasr's adventure by a goal from Walter Bwalya, who secured victory for the Cairo giants.

At Suez Stadium, Zamalek came from behind to achieve a 3-1 win over Haras El Hodoud and they will face Ismaily in the next round.

Hassan Youssef scored for El Hodoud after eight minutes but the White Knights leveled the score quickly by Youssef Obama.

In the second half, Zamalek's defender Mahmoud Alaa scored twice from the penalty to send his team to the Egyptian Cup round of 16.

The two teams will face off on Sunday night at Cairo International Stadium in a game postponed from week four of the Egyptian League.

Zamalek lead the league table with 33 points after 14 games and they are six points ahead of Al Ahly, who played only 11 matches.
