CAIRO-11 April 2021: Aston Villa Egyptian winger Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet will be out of the rest of the season after he damaged an anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's encounter against Liverpool.

The Egyptian left the game in tears, 10 minutes before the final whistle, and was replaced by Jacob Ramsey.

Trezeguet went down after being tackled by Liverpool defender and it was obvious from the way he went down that he is set for another long spell on the sidelines.

Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith discussed Trezeguet’s injury after the game, saying “He played well again today and played his part but unfortunately he’s gone off injured. We’re a little bit worried.”

Trezeguet has been unfortunate this season as he missed two months for injury and the injury hit him again after getting back in form.

The Egyptian winger tweeted after the game to thanks the fans for their support.

Trezeguet will not be able to start the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with the Pharaohs. The first stage of the qualifiers will start in June and is set to end in October.
