CAIRO-11 April 2021: Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane believes that his players need time to recover after having two tough matches against Liverpool in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and Barcelona in the domestic league.

Los Blancos came out victorious in both matches and they are now preparing for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, scheduled on Wednesday at Anfield.

“It's been two gruelling games. Now we have to rest. I don't know how we're going to finish the season. Physically, we're at our limit." Zidane said on Saturday.

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium on Saturday night. Karim Benzema opened the score for the home team after 13 minutes while Toni Kroos’ free kick doubled the score for Real Madrid, who finished the first half leading 2-0.

Oscar Mingueza scored a goal in the second half to bring Barcelona back into the game but the visitors’ efforts to equalize the score did not pay off to lose the match 2-1.

Zidane commented on the victory, saying "It doesn't change anything, there's still a long way to go."

Real Madrid jumped temporarily to the top of the table with 66 points on goal difference ahead of Atletico Madrid, who will face Real Betis on Sunday.
