CAIRO-26 March 2021: Al Ahly midfielder Hamdy Fathy is expected to be out of action until May after suffering an injury during Egypt’s clash against Kenya on Thursday.

Fathy suffered a fracture in the radius muscle and he will be ruled out for the next two months.

“Fathy’s scan confirmed that the player has a radius fracture, which will cause him to cast his arm for around a month. Moreover, the player will undergo medical check-ups every week in order to know how well he is recovering.” Al Ahly website stated on Friday.

The player started the game against Kenya in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, which ended with a 1-1 draw.

Fathy was forced to leave the pitch in the second half due to an injury in his elbow.

Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, Al Ahly head of medical staff, said “Fathy might be out for two months before he returns back and joins the team in the training sessions and matches. Such estimation is subject to how well the player will recover from the injury,”

Egypt men’s national team secured a ticket to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Cameroon in 2022.
