Cairo, Egypt– 18September 2019: TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, made its debut among the Egyptian press today with an exclusive event to celebrate its presence in the Egyptian market.

Officially launched in 2018, TikTok houses a variety of features that allow users to express themselves through short videos with easy-to-use video-capturing and editing tools, which allow users to easily trim, cut, merge and duplicate video clips without leaving the app. There is also a wide variety of filters, effects, and AR objects to take videos to the next level. For watching videos, TikTok's intelligent discovery process makes it easy to find and enjoy entertaining content that is unexpectedly personalized. The app delivers an endless stream of short videos without the hassle of having to search for them.

Available in 150 markets and 75 languages, TikTok offers a home for creative expression, aiming to inspire and enrich people’s lives with a genuine and positive experience.

The event saw TikTok representative Hany Kamel discuss TikTok’s journey in Egypt, as well as provide attendees with the unique experience of exploring the features of the platform application first-hand.

TikTok emphasized the potential of the Egyptian market by recounting three wildly successful challenges that have made an impact across the country. #No_Place_Like_Egypt was launched just last month in partnership with the Ministry of Immigration, to encourage all Egyptians to express their love for their homeland. The campaign garnered 16.8M views in eight days and comprised of more than 2,000 videos. Another challenge aimed at Egyptian users was #FreestyleTown, which in partnership with Footpark, gave users a chance to vote on the best freestyle football videos with over 85.4k members participating and 4.8M video views.

As part of a global initiative #TikTokTravel, Egypt was one of among over 100 countries to be included in the campaign that saw users share over 400,000 videos of authentic travel moments that received a total of 1.7Bn views.

“TikTok is a destination for creating and discovering real, interesting, and fun short-form mobile videos that will make your day. Our Egyptian users have demonstrated an amazing level of creativity, and we are looking forward to deliver even more localized activities and features to serve the Egyptian market.” said spokesperson Hany Kamel, TikTok’s Content Operations Director for North Africa.

“Millions of creators are on TikTok showcasing their incredible skills and moments that matter in their everyday lives. Users can find an inclusive community on TikTok that embraces this diverse and positive experience, and is the reason why TikTok has resonated with users across the globe,” added Kamel.

Even as TikTok experiences rapid growth around the world, it is committed to promoting a safe and positive app environment, deploying a combination of policies, technologies, and moderation strategies to detect and review any problematic content or accounts in accordance to its Community Guidelines, available on its website. In addition, it offers users a number of safety features including controls, tools and privacy settings.
