TIEC Collaborateswith Huawei to Lunch “Egypt App Cup” Competition

Cairo, Egypt, 16 September 2019:Egypt’s Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) of ITIDA, in collaboration with Huawei, the leading global ICT solution provider,announced the official launch of the first of its kind “Egypt App Cup” competition tooffer university students and fresh graduates new opportunities to unleash their creativity and develop innovation skills in the technology field.

The competition, which is part of Huawei’s “Shining Star” program aims at supporting Egyptian youth in gaining a huge experience and vast ICT knowledge, making their future easier and brighter. The App Cup competition will allow participants to engage in developing innovative mobile-based solutions and android applications that support transportation, health, and tourism sectors.

“Egypt App Cup competition seeks to tremendously impact our youth’s future, as it opens up a path of promising opportunities. It aims at nurturing the young minds, boosting their creativity, and enriching their knowledge. This initiative also support and meets our primary goals of developing the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt along with our mandate of building the capacities of young calibers on the latest ICT technologies.” saidHossam Othman, TIEC Chairperson and ITIDA VP.

HuaweiShining-Star Program is a huge ecosystem supporter, connecting more than 910k global developers.These connections and investments will bring huge benefits to international markets and will encourage developing markets to rise and flourish, boosting the ecosystem around the world.

“Our Shining-Star Program is currently investing 1 billion USD resources in many countries around the world to provide comprehensive support for developers to create a smart mobile service innovation ecosystem”, stated Adam Xiao Ersong, Manager Director of MENA Mobile Services, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “Through the App Cup competition, Huawei grants Egyptian youth access to greater capabilities and a wider array of developer services in recognition of Egypt’s potential as a growing market especially in the technology sector”.

At HUAWEI Developer Conference 2019 held in Dongguan China on August 9~11, Huawei announced the launch of 51 open abilities/services, opening 885 APIs,14 HMS Core Capabilities, including the newest Account, Scan, Map and Push kits, which will help developers to implement their ideas and functions with much more ease.

Also, as part of Shining-Star Program, all submitted applications from this competition will get great exposure by being a part of HUAWEI AppGallery, the official application market for HUAWEI and HONOR smartphone, providing creators the perfect launch pad to share their ideas and applications with the millions of users around the world.
