Find Ramadan in Old Cairo

CAIRO – 28 May 2017: Al-Hussein and Al-Sayyida Zeinab areas have a different unique atmosphere in Ramadan.

Egyptians usually head to those two areas in the holy month to buy all their Ramadan stuff, the most famous of which are the nuts and lanterns.




Although they can shop for their needs anywhere else, they prefer to shop there to feel the real spirit of the holy month.





The reader Osama Maher shared with Egypt Today some photos he captured in Al-Hussein area. Maher wanted to reflect the true image of Al-Hussein and Al-Sayyida Zeinab areas in Ramadan. ‘’ I wanted through my photos to highlight the Ramadan atmosphere, showing the intimate Ramadan mood of such ancient areas,’’ said Maher.
