CAIRO –28 May 2017: There are some tips and preventative measures that diabetics must follow in Ramadan to maintain a stable status without any complications to enjoy the holy month. Hani Naeem, consultant of diabetes and endocrinology, offers a number of tips for diabetics to follow in Ramadan, which include the following:

1 - Fasting is only required after consulting the doctor and determining the appropriate diet.

2 - If you want to eat sweets, consult your doctor first to determine the appropriate amount.

3 - Make sure to take the medicine at suitable times and doses prescribed by the doctor.

4 - If you are fasting and have been subjected to any complications such as dizziness or severe sweat, you must stop fasting and contact the doctor immediately.

5. Keep your glucose level constant throughout the day.

6-Do not eat too much carbohydrates and high-calories food.

7 - Avoid high temperature, crowded places and try not to exert too much effort .

8. Drinking large amounts of water and some beverages is very important to regulate blood sugar levels.
