CAIRO – September 9 2017: Pierre Bergé, co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent, died Friday at the age of 86. He was born on November 18, 1930. Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent met in 1958. They become romantically involved and launched Yves Saint Laurent Couture House in 1961. Bergé and Saint Laurent engaged in a same-sex civil union in 2008, just days before Saint Laurent died of brain cancer.

According to BBC, in the 1990s, both Yves Saint Laurent and Bergé sold the fashion house, which made them both immensely wealthy. Bergé dedicated two museums to Yves Saint Laurent: one in Paris and the other in Marrakech.
