CAIRO – 2 August 2017: How to protect your hair in the summer and enjoy the beach and the pool? ‘Curly Talks’ got you covered. With some extra love and care your hair will look great even on the most challenging days.

Here are another four tips on how to tame your summer hair:

1. Deep condition always. The dryer your hair is, the more likely it will suffer from frizz. So try to deep condition, at least once a week for added moisture. Two great deep conditioning treatments are: heating coconut oil and putting it on your hair for an hour, before rinsing it off or heating a tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of olive oil together, keep it on for an hour and then rinsing it off.

2. Create barriers. Swimming harms the hair dramatically. Chlorine in a pool strips your hair of its natural oils and the heavy salt content in seawater dries up your hair to no ends. So before you go for a dip, rake a few drops of oil (coconut or rosemary) through your dry hair and then wet your hair with fresh water. If your hair is drenched, before you jump in the water, it will not absorb as much saltwater or pool chemicals as hair can only absorb a limited amount of liquid. The oil also acts as an added barrier.

3. Keep it moisturized. Mix water, aloe vera juice/gel, and avocado oil (instead of avocado oil you could use something similar to it such as olive or castor oil). Keep the mixture on hand to spray on whenever you feel your hair is feeling a little too dry or when it needs a bit more control.

4. Avoid heat. Heat changes your natural hair pattern and causes frizz. So avoid any and all heat styling tools, such hairdryers, curling irons and straighteners, during the summer months. They will only make matters worse.

Just follow a few of these tips and you are bound to enjoy a summer full of healthy, shiny and bouncy hair.
