It’s no surprise that the cold weather can make us feel, well a little bit down. Many of us find joy in long walks through chilly streets or listening to the rain tap against the windows, others can’t help but miss summertime — when days felt longer, lighter, and a little more carefree.
Experiencing the winter blues is completely normal, and acknowledging it is the first step. But instead of letting it linger, making a few small changes to your daily routine can bring back a sense of warmth and joy. Here are a few simple ways to lift your mood this season:

Let the Sunshine In
What’s great about Cairo’s winter, is that it’s not all gloomy and grey. The sun still peaks in, even if it is a little bit cloudy. Try sitting in the balcony first thing in the morning, breathe in the fresh crisp air, make yourself a cup of coffee and start your day with the intention of making it a good one.

Start a New Hobby
Let it be baking, knitting, reading or journaling. Start something new that would peak your interest, a hobby that you can look forward to at the end of the day. This hobby will keep you occupied and productive in a fun way.

Stay Connected
It’s tempting to isolate during colder months, but staying connected makes a huge difference. Invite a friend over for tea, plan a low-key dinner, or even schedule a catch-up call. Small moments of connection can instantly make the season feel warmer

Move Your Body (Gently)
You don’t need intense workouts to feel better. A short walk, light stretching, or a cozy at-home yoga session can boost your mood and energy levels. Movement helps release feel-good hormones, helping you fight the winter blues.
