Batal said in an interview to Egypt Today, “We are bicycle riders and we went on this trip now not only for sport, but to invite the world to visit Egypt and especially Sinai and to promote tourism so that when everyone sees us riding our bicycles safely though Sinai, they would know how safe it is.”

He also pointed out "we communicate with youth from all over the world and actually some of the bicycle riders from Britain have decided to come in next November to do a trip through Egypt, to ensure the return of tourism."

Meanwhile, Hamdi stated "My friend and I are now walking safely through Sinai and it is our duty towards Egypt to do our best for its sake. He stressed that they are depending on themselves completely in this trip, without the financial help of any organization," their aim is to help revive tourism.
