CAIRO – 8 July 2017: Egypt Air launched six direct flights between Egypt and Kuwait on July 6 allowing the return of hundreds of Egyptian workers deported from Qatar.

Facilitating the return of the deported workers through Kuwait highlights Egypt Air’s decision to operate additional flights to Kuwait after the suspension of Cairo-Doha flights as part of a compete boycott imposed on the tiny emirate several weeks ago.

On June 5, a number of Gulf States, along with Egypt, announced the severing of mutual diplomatic relations with the Gulf state of Qatar over reported terrorism support and alignment with the extremist government of Iran.

As many as 1,020 Egyptians were sent back to Cairo via the national air lines, the company announced on Thursday. Egypt Air will continue operating more Kuwait-bound flights to secure the return of Egyptian expatriates, in addition to those who willing to go on holiday with relatives from Cairo, as reported by Youm7.

In its bid to resolve the current diplomatic riff between Gulf nations and Doha, Kuwait acts as a mediator between the two sides. Along with Oman, Kuwait has taken a neutral position in the dispute.
