Egypt’s short movies Tuk-Tuk, Henet Ward to participate in Pan African Film Festival

CAIRO - 13 February 2021: The two Egyptian short movies, Tuk-Tuk and Henet Ward, will screen during the 29th edition of Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) in Los Angles.

 

The festival will kick off between February 28 - March 14 and will take place online.

 Tuk-Tuk will participate in PAFF’s Best Short Narrative (Animation or Live Action) competition. 

Tuk-Tuk Stars Elham Wagdy, written by Mohamed Kheidr and Sherif Abdel- Hady and directed by Kheidr.

 

 

 

Egyptian director Morad Mostafa previously announced that his Egyptian short movie  “Henet Ward” participated in 100 festivals in 2020.

 

” Henet Ward” had its MENA premiere at Cairo International Film Festival.

 

The short movie competed in Cinema of Tomorrow competition.

 

“Henet Ward”  participated in the official competition of Nashville Film Festival.

Nashville Film Festival is also an Academy Award qualifying festival. 

“Henet Ward” was screened in the Official Selection of the 26th edition of Palm Springs International ShortFest, that kicked off online from June 16-22, 2020.

'' Henet Ward'' was the only Egyptian film in the Official Selection. 

The short movie which is directed by Morad Mostafa, tackles the story of a Sudanese henna painter named Halima who is living in Egypt. 

The short movie discusses a day in the life of Halima where she goes to one of Giza's neighbourhoods to prepare a bride accompanied by her seven-year-old daughter Ward who starts to discover the place. 

'' Henet Ward'' film stars Emad Goniem, Halima, and Hagar Mahmoud, among others. 

 

The Egyptian short movie received a Special Mention of the Jury at Akbank Film Festival, and is among 332 shorts that comprise the Official Selection of the 26th Palm Springs International ShortFest, chosen from more than 6,000 submissions.
