Egypt's culture min. appoints Karma Sami as Director of National Center for Translation

CAIRO – 17 August 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem issued a decision to appoint Karma Mohamed Sami, Professor of English Literature at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, as the Director of the National Center for Translation for a year, succeeding Ola Adel, who apologized for not continuing in the position after being nominated by the Ministry of Higher Education to work as a cultural attaché to the office of the educational mission in Austria.

 

It is noteworthy that Karma Muhammad Sami Farid Ismail graduated from Al-Alsun College in May 1987 with honors. She was selected for a Fulbright Scholarship in 1989 and obtained a master's degree with excellence.

 

Then, she received her PhD with first class honors for a dissertation entitled “The Original Female Models in Arnold and Sugar's Single-Protagonist Plays”.

 

She worked as the head of the English language department at Al-Alsun College (2006-2009), Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Al-Alsun College (2008-2015), Member of the Board of Directors of the Rifaa Unit for Research and Development of Linguistic Information and Translation and Head of the English Language Division at Al-Alsun College.
