CAIRO- 22 June 2017: Approximately 40 artists from Saudi Arabia will participate in the Epicenter X exhibition at the Arab American National Museum (AANM) in Michigan. The exhibition will run from July 8 and through October, according to a statement released by Arab America on June 21.
The artists are the first to display contemporary art applied in Saudi Arabia. The exhibition seeks to establish dialogue between U.S. and Saudi audiences. The arts are a display of the daily lives of Saudi people and the effect of American culture on the Saudi community.
Devon Akmon director of AANM stated that the aim behind this exhibition is to boost cross-cultural dialogue and expose audiences to the diversity presented by Saudi art.
The exhibitions will feature works such as Golden Hour photo in a series called Desert of Pharan by Ahmed Mater and Asylum of Dreams installation by Qamar Abdulmalik among others.
Epicenter X will also feature three contemporary Qut Murals through a traditional house painting created by female artisans from southwestern Saudi Arabia.
Epicenter X, supported by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, is coordinated by Culturunners that aims to promote dialogue and better understanding of nations.
The Saudi group tour will be extended to Salt Lake City, Memphis, Washington D.C, and New York.
