CAIRO - 8 December 2019: The General Authority of Culture Palaces, headed by Ahmed Awad, will launch the activities of the Literary Conference of Egypt at its thirty-fourth edition in Port Said Governorate, from December 9 to 12.
The conference comes under the title “Cultural Mobility and the Awareness Crisis ... Creativity and Reception” and bears the name of renowned late poet Bayram al-Tunisi.
Moreover, the conference will be chaired by artist Ezz el-Din Naguib, and its secretariat will be poet Hazem Hussein. This is under the patronage of Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and Port Said Governor Adel el-Ghadban.
The opening activities of the conference begin at 5 pm tomorrow (Dec.8) with the National Anthem, followed by an artistic performance of Opera Arabi and another for the Port Said Folklore Band. A documentary film on the city of Port Said will be screened, and another about the conference. Speeches will then be delivered before concluding with several honorings.
This year, the conference will discuss the main theme on "Cultural Mobility and the Awareness Crisis ... Creativity and Reception".
It also discusses seven general themes, namely: “The relationship between radical social variables and cultural mobility”, “Cultural mobility and the question of identity and enlightenment”, “The effect of translation and Arabization on creativity and reception”, “Cultural groupings and movements and their impact on mobility and awareness”, “The active awareness gap ... the distress of receiving between theory and practice”, “The effectiveness of communication techniques in the culture industry” and “The creative, critical, heritage and artistic scene in Port Said Governorate”.

CAIRO - 10 June 2019: In its 34th edition, the Literary Conference of Egypt celebrates iconic late poet Bayram al-Tunisi, one of Egypt's most famous colloquial poets. Tunisi was selected by the General Secretariat of the conference as the conference's personality of 2019.
