CAIRO - 5 May 2019: It’s that time of year again where we’ll be glued to our TVs, or more likely our phones and iPads trying to cram in as many episodes of series produced for the peak viewing drama season that is Ramadan.

We can’t tell now who will be Ramadan marathon winner/winners this year, but after the runaway success of Kalabsh (Handcuffs), Rahim and “Nesr El Saeed” (Hawk of Upper Egypt) last year, all eyes are on Amir Karara , Mohamed Ramadan and Yasser Galal.

Safe bets are also likely to be the stalwarts of the season, , Yasmine Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Imam , Ahmed El Sakka, Donia Samir Ghanem, Amy Samir Ghanem.

Egypt Today will give the ingredients of the yummy Ramadan drama plate this year, not all the food is edible in Ramadan.


1- “Badal el Hadouta Talata” ( Three Tales instead of one)

Famed Egyptian actress Donia Samir Ghanem embodies three different characters in her upcoming Ramadan series “Badal el Hadouta Talata” ( Three Tales instead of one).
The series consists of three small tales, each will be presented in ten Episodes.
Ghanem portrays the character of a scammer in the first ten episodes. The second tale’s heroine is Lahfa who is the successful character Ghanem presented four years ago in her successful series which bears the same name.

Mohamed Salam, Amr Wahba,Shaima Saif, Dalal Abdel Aziz will be among the participating cast. Donia’s husband TV presenter Rami Radwan, as well as the co-producer and singer Hisham Gamal and Ismail Farghaly will also appear in the first ten episodes.

“Badal el Hadouta Talata” is the production of Synergy and Roznama companies.

The series is written by Ayman Wattar and Sherif Naguib and directed by Khaled el Halafawy. Actor Mohammed Salam plays the leading role alongside Donia Ghanem in the first ten episodes of the much anticipated series.

Donia Ghanem returns to the Ramadan drama scene in 2019 after not participating in the Ramadan season of 2018. The star presented three consecutive series in which she played the leading roles, “Lahfa” directed by Moataz el-Tuni in 2015, “Nelly we Sherihan” (Nelly and Sherihan) directed by Ahmed el-Gendy in 2016 and last but not least “Fel Lala land” (In Lala land) in 2017.

2-Kalabesh (Handcuffs) part 3

Egyptian superstar Amir Kharar dubbed Basha Masr (Egypt’s Pasha) is back this year again with the beloved character Selim el-Ansary.

Kalabesh is a 2017 Egyptian drama and suspense TV-Series directed by Peter Mimi, revolves around Selim el-Ansary who is a confident and honest policeman, the series reflects the heroism and dedication of the Egyptian Armed Forces and police in combating the dark ideology of extremists.

The series is based on a story written by Yousef Hassan Yousef, then dramatized and scripted by Baher Dewidar.

A sequel was released in 2018, and a third season will be broadcast during Ramadan 2019. Both the first and second parts of the series achieved great success.

In the third part, Selim el-Ansaryis submitting his resignation to Major General Galal Khattab, but the latter strongly objects to this request. Eventually, the resignation is accepted and Ansary moves on to establish a security company, which he co-owns with Akram Safwan. However, various disagreements occur between them.

The third part of the series is starring beside Karara, Rogina, Yasser Ali Maher, Dina, Ghinwa Mahmoud, Ahmed el-Awadi, among others. “Kalabsh P III” is directed by Peter Mimi and written by Baher Dewidar. Kalabesh is produced by Synergy.

3- Le Akher Nafas (Till the last breath)

Heartthrob actress Yasmine Abdel Aziz is set to participate in Ramadan marathon with her new series “Le Akher Nafas” (Till the last breath) . The series is directed by Hossam Ali, and written by Amin Galal and Tarek el-Kashef.

Abdel Aziz plays the role of an engineer, who is married to a police officer and has two children. The series is an interesting social drama and depicts the confused engineer while looking for solutions for her daily problems. Le Akher Nafas is a social drama series.

The series stars Ahmed el-Awadi, Ahmed Salah Hosny, Morad Makram, Hagar el-Sharnoubi, Ismail Sharaf, among others. Le Akher Nafas is produced by Synergy.


4- “Hekayty” ( My Story)

Yasmine Sabry plays her first leading role in the series “Hekayty”. Wafaa Amer, Edward, Ahmed Salah Hosni, Ahmed Hatem, Ahmad Bedair, Maha Abu Auf, Islam Gamal, Ahmed Gamal Said, Dunia el-Masry, Gamal Abdel Nasser and Mustafa Darwish will be starring alongside Sabry.

The series is a social drama written by Mohamed Abdel Moty and directed by Ahmed Samir Farag. The social drama revolves around the success journey of a girl who starts with nothing but acquire a lot of ambitions and dreams. The determined girl eventually reaches her dreams by overcoming numerous obstacles.

“Hekayty” series is the production of Synergy. Artistic critics in Egypt anticipate the series will achieve great success.

5- Ibn Osool” (Good man)

“Ibn Osool” (Good man) starring famed actor and singer Hamada Helal is ready to be broadcasted in Ramadan 2019.

“Ibn Osool” is directed by Mohamed Bakir and written by Ahmed Mahmoud Abu Zeid. The series is starring Suzanne Najm al-Din, Emad Rashad, Ahmad Halawa, and Wafaa Salem among others.

The series revolves around a man named Misho, who is a respected man in his community. Misho owns jewellery shops. The rich man is considered funny, but as the series unfolds Misho goes through a lot of hardships that ruin the peaceful life he once enjoyed. “Ibn Osool” series is the production of Synergy.

6- -"Alamet Estefham" (Question mark)

Alamet Estefham" (Question mark) series is a mystery puzzling its cast, what about who will going to watch it?

The makers of "Alamet Estefham" imposed complete secrecy around the events of the last ten episodes.

Each actor/actress will be informed of the events of the last ten episodes directly before filming the scenes, so that the events are not exposed to them especially that the events of the series revolve around ambiguity.

The makers of the series completed filming 15 episodes but the actors do not have an idea of how the series will come to an end, although scriptwriter Islam Hafez almost completed writing the entire series.

"Alamet Estefham" is directed by Sameeh al-Nakash and is the production of Synergy. The screenplay is starring Mohamed Ragab, Haitham Ahmed Zaki, Marehan Hussein, Jihan Khalil, Edward, Norhan, Koki, Mahmoud el-Bazzawy, Abdel Rahman Abou Zahra, Yousra el Masaoudi, Salma Hassan, Gina Selim, Islam Hafez, among others. 7- - “Zelzal” (Earthquake)

The much anticipated series “Zelzal” (Earthquake) starring superstar Mohamed Ramadan will be broadcasted during Ramadan 2019.

The series, starring Hala Shiha beside Ramadan. Shiha is returning back to acting after a long hiatus of 12 years.

In "Zelzal", Ramadan is set to perform the role of both the father and son, an experience he previously succeeded in, in the series “Nesr El Saeed” which gained great success in Ramadan 2018.

The events of the series take place in 1992 when a devastating earthquake struck Egypt. A man buys a house in instalments and the last instalment is due; the owner of the house demands that the house be registered in his name and his ownership is renounced.

The seller decides to wait and prolongs the process until the devastating earthquake strikes. The buyer dies and the house collapses post the destructive force of the earthquake.

The seller then refuses to hand over the piece of land on which the house was built to the heirs of the deceased, creating a clash between him and the son of the deceased.

Despite the fact that there is a love story between the daughter of the seller and the son of the deceased, the girl's father stands between them.

The series is directed by Yasser Samy and written by Abdul Rahim Kamal. “Zelzal” is starring Maged el-Masry, Ahmed Seyam, Nesrine Amin, and Youssef Osman, among others. “Zelzal” is the production of Synergy. Does Ramadan’s Zelzal will make every year Earthquake? Let’s wait and see.

8-Talket Haz

“Talket Haz” (Luck strike) is starring famed comedian Mustafa Khater, Ayten Amer, Ahmed Maher, Enaam Salousa, Hosny Shatta, Mirna Nour el Din, among others.

The comedy screenplay revolves around a man that faces numerous problems with his four sisters who do not get along with his wife. However, the man’s wife supports her husband as he faces his vicious sisters. The series is written by Ihab Beleilbal and directed by Ahmed Amin. Talket Haz is the production of Synergy.

9- “Weld el-Ghalaba” (Son of the poor)

The series is starring famed Egyptian actor Ahmed el-Sakka, Mohamed Mamdouh, Ingy el Moqadem, Mai Omar, Edward, Hadi el-Gayyar, among others.

The series revolves around a poor man originating from Upper Egypt (Sakka). The man is forced to work two jobs in order to meet his needs. During the mornings, the man works as a teacher in a governmental school, while at night he works as a taxi driver.

The man struggles with numerous financial and social obstacles, eventually pushing him to work as a drug dealer.

The series is written by Ayman Salama and directed by Mohamed Samy. It is labeled as an action/drama.


10- Baraka

The series follows Baraka (Amr Saad) who settles in Cairo where he starts to get richer, but at the same time he gets involved in a lot of serious problems with powerful people. The show stars beside Saad Hala Sedky, Kamal Abo Raya, Salah Abdallah among others and is directed by Mahmoud Karim. Baraka is the production of Synergy.



Hogan series revolves around a young man nicknamed "Hogan" as he has supernatural capabilities. The young man pulls cars, pins metal coins with his fingers and mouth, and happily eats glass without getting hurt.

Hogan becomes famous and rich after being a man who lives in a shabby neighbourhood.

The series is written by Mohamed Salah el-Azab and directed by Sherine Adel.

The series stars popular star Mohamed Imam, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Omar Mustafa Metwali, Asmaa Abul Yazeed, and Abeer Sabry, among others. The series is the production of Synergy.

12- “Lams Aktaf”

Veteran actor Yasser Galal appeared in “Lams Aktaf” promo as a boxer competing in an important round against a vicious opponent.

Galal embodies the role of a boxer named Adham, who gets involved in criminal acts, and later decides to repent and live a secure and stable life. However, Adham faces hardships as he is chased by Mafia members.

Galal went through rigorous training in order to appear in a certain body shape suiting the role he is playing.

The series is starring Fathy Abdel Wahab, Hanan Metaweh, Eman el-Asy, Samar Morsy, Donia Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Ezz, among others. “Lams Aktaf” is directed by Hussein al-Nabawi.

The series is the third leading role for Yasser Galal in a television drama after "Zel el-Raes" and "Rahim". “Lams Aktaf” is produced by Synergy.


13-'Princess Beesa'

Famed actress Mai Ezz el-Din will embody two characters in her Ramadan series "Princess Beessa"; the first is a common girl named Beesa working in the field of wedding planning. Beesa inherits school from her uncle, who lives in Italy.

The second character is Beesa’s grandmother, with whom she lives. The grandmother imposes in a comedic manner monetary payments on the people that reside in the area. The grandmother’s family wants to transfer her to a residence for the elderly.

Out of nowhere, a man appears and claims to be Beesa’s cousin and entitled to inheritance. Egyptian international Actor Amir el-Masry falls in love with Beesa in the series.

Princess Beessa stars beside Ezz el-Din and El Masry, Pussy, Mohamed Anwar, Hagag Abdel Azim, Hossam Dhager among others. The series is written by Mostafa Omar and Farouk Hisham, directed by Akram Farid and produced by Synergy.

14- Qamar Hady ( Hady’s Moon)

Qamar Hady series revolves around a notorious drug dealer named Hady Abul Makarem portrayed by star Hani Salama. Makarem, who owns a luxurious car agency and uses it to launder money from his drug trade. Eventually, the notorious drug dealer starts to have numerous altercations with his competitors.

Salama falls in love with Yousra el-Lozi during the events of the series and gets involved in a murder; his older brother, played by Mohsin Mohy Eldin reports him to police.

Qamar Hady is written by Islam Hafez and directed by Raouf Abdel Aziz. The series is the production of Synergy.

Ramadan star Mostafa Shaaban will present to his fans this year Abou Gabal who is a rich merchant who will suffer along with his family from severe problems and crisis. The series will highlight Abou Gabal attempts to know the true reason behind these crisis.

Abou Gabal series star Aicha Ben Ahmed, Diab, Naglaa Badr, Mahmoud el Bezawy among others. The series is written by Mohamed Sayed Beshir, directed by Ahmed Saleh and produced by Synergy.

16- El wad Sayed el Shahat ( The boy Named Sayed el Shahat
A poor young man named Sayed got married to a rich girl, the matter that drove people to wonder why she accepted. Suddenly Sayed will be chased by starne people asking him to pay 6 million L.E as one of his relatives conned them and took the money The series star popular comedian Ahmed Fahmy, Hannah el Zahed, Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Mohamed Osama ( Osos), Mostafa Baseet among others.

17- Super Miro

Heartthrob comedian Amy Samir Ghanem embodies in her first leading role the character of Tamira, a woman who has supernatural powers and works as a journalist in a magazine. Tamira goes through numerous comical situations as the events unfold.

“Super Miro” is written by Mohammed Mohammedi and Ahmed Mohie and directed by Walid el-Halafawi. The series is starring Hamdi el-Mirghani, Bayoumi Fouad, Mohamed Tharwat, Malak Qora, Mohamed Mahmoud, Ahmed Sultan and veteran comedian Samir Ghanem.
