CAIRO – 29 January 2019: French President Emanuel Macron met with the French community in Egypt and expressed his keenness to cooperate with Egypt in several fields.

Macron clarified that the relations between Egypt and France are distinctive, and expressed his keenness to build bridges of cooperation between the two countries in economic and political fields.

The French president expressed his fascination with Minister of Antiquities Khaled al-Anany’s capability of speaking French and his deep knowledge about the ancient Egyptian heritage.

Macron also revealed his amazement by the archaeological sites he visited in Egypt, where he received a detailed explanation from Anany.

Macron’s visit to Egypt will last for three days, in which the French president and his wife are set to visit numerous archaeological sites around the country, such as Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan, the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Citadel.
