Donia Ghanem to co-star with Mohamed Salam in Ramadan series

CAIRO – 10 January 2019: Actor Mohammed Salam will co-star with famed actress Donia Samir Ghanem in a new television series scheduled to be presented during Ramadan 2019.

The series is directed by Khaled Halafawi.

According to Halafawi, Salam will participate in the first ten episodes; the director clarified that the series combines three tales and that the name of the series as well as the rest of the cast are yet to be decided.

Halafawi stated that he is currently observing the filming locations, and is holding work sessions with Ghanem, pointing out that the writer has completed the first few episodes of the much-anticipated series.

This is the fourth cooperation between Salam and Ghanem, as they previously cooperated in “Fel La La Land” (In La La Land) which achieved great success upon its release in Ramadan 2017.

It is worth mentioning that "Nelly and Sherihan" series was their second cooperation, and "Lahfa" was their third.

Ghanem did not participate in any series during the previous Ramadan. Her last work was the series (In La La Land), costarring with Hana el-Zahed, Shimaa Seif, Ahmad al-Mirghani. The series was directed by Moataz el-Touni.

It is worth noting that Donia is the daughter of actor Samir Youssef Ghanem & actress Dalal Abdul aziz, and sister of the promising actress Amy (Amal).

Donia graduated from Modern Sciences & Arts (MSA) University, Faculty of Mass Communication, majoring in broadcasting in 2008.

Donia began her artistic career in 2001 when she was 16. She had her first role in a TV show called “Lil Adala Wogouh Katheera” (Justice has many faces).

The famed actress participated in two TV shows when she was a child. She attracted attention while acting in an Egyptian series called "Justice has many faces." Her first appearance in a film was in 2005 with comedian Mohamed Henedi.

Ghanem’s talents appeared when she was a child, participating in school plays and shows. Her father cried when he first heard her sing for late veteran singer Fayrouz, and her mom encouraged her acting career from an early age.

Through appearances in various Egyptian talk shows, Ghanem stood out for her mimicry of other Arab singers. Her most famous imitation was of Ahlam's voice singing Miriam Fares's song.

Her first song was called "Far2 el Sen" (Big difference).

She was a judge on the fourth season (2015) of The X Factor Arabia, along with Elissa and Ragheb Alama.
