CAIRO – 25 November 2018: The Egyptian movie, "Garemet Al-Immobilia"(Immobilia Crime), will screen on Sunday, November 25 on the sidelines of the 40th edition of Cairo International Film Festival.

The festival management announced that all the tickets of the movie were sold out.

The 2018 fiction film is directed by Khaled el-Hagar. The film tells the story of Kamal Helmy, a famous writer in his late forties, who lives alone in Cairo’s famous Immobilia building in down town Cairo.

Since the death of his wife and the departure of his children, he has suffered from loneliness and a form of schizophrenia. One day he invites a girl called Samah, whom he has befriended on Facebook, in an attempt to alleviate his isolation. But after she arrives, an accident occurs and he discovers, together with his neighbor and best friend Habib, that he has been used by her.

"Garemet Al-Immobilia" stars Hany Adel, Nahed al-Sebaie and Tarek Abdel Aziz.
The Egyptian film “LeilKhargy” (Exterior/ Night) screened for the first time in Egypt at Cairo Opera House Main Hall on Friday November 23.

“LeilKhargy” is competing in CIFF international competition. The movie revolves around three individuals; Mo, Toto and Mustafa, who meet against all norms, each battling in his own way to stand his ground and leave his mark; they eventually find themselves in an unexpected journey in the city that helps them see a world they have never seen before.

“LeilKhargy” stars KarimKassem, Mona Hala, Basma, Ahmed Malek, and Ahmed Magdy among others. “LeilKhargy” is written by SherifAlfy and directed by Ahmed Abdallah.

“LeilKhargy” had screened before at Toronto International Film Festival.

Additionally, American film "Green Book" screened at the opening ceremony of the Cairo International Film Festival's 40th edition.

"Green Book" is considered one of the most important films competing for the 2019 Oscar Awards; it is directed by Peter Varley and stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.

The film is based on a true story that took place in the 1960s as racial discrimination heightened in the United States. An Italian-born driver with racial tendencies takes a black-skinned pianist on a tour around the southern states where racism reached its highest levels.

The film was granted the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, the largest audience selection awards.

Film director Varley, who is also known internationally for presenting light comedy films, made sure his brother, Bob Varley, played a role in “Green Book” that was unlike any role he played before.

The movie presented a serious topic, but the actors did not lose their comedian attire.
