CAIRO – 18 April 2017: Member of Parliament Hesham Wally called for paying attention to Fayoum’s historical monuments in a statement on Tuesday.

Wally said that the Fayoum University and a lot of buildings had been built on debris of “Keman” called ”Fares” now , an ancient Pharaonic village, where the Pharaohs and Romans established their statues and tombs.

He said that Fayoum has become a source of pollution and garbage due to the government's negligence that caused the monuments to be destroyed and distorted.

Additionally, the MP stressed on the importance of forming a committee to study the area, spread awareness on the importance of this historical place, and establish a museum to save these monuments which will help attract tourism to the governorate.
