CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Famous Egyptian actor Ahmed Ezz started shooting his new soap opera, “Abou Omar el Masry”, which will screen during Ramadan 2018.

The series revolves around a peaceful lawyer who transforms into a dangerous terrorist due to circumstances. The series is based on a successful novel written by acclaimed Egyptian novelist Ezz el Din Shoukry, which bears the same name.

Beside Ezz, the soap opera stars Arwa Gouda, Fathy Abdel Wahab, Dina el Sherbiny and Ahmed el Awady, among others. The script for the series is written by Mariam Naoum and directed by Ahmed Khaled Moussa.

Ezz’s latest movie, “El Khaleya” (The Cell), achieved the highest revenues in Egyptian cinema history. The movie highlights the continuous efforts exerted by security forces to combat terrorism, as well as the obstacles and suffering the men face as a result of such difficult work. The movie focuses on a special operations officer played by Ezz. He works to stop more than one terrorist operation and arrests various terrorist cells.

“El-Khaleya”, a high-budget action movie, stars Samer el-Masrie, Mohamed Mamdouh and Amina Khalil, alongside Ezz. The films script is written by Salah el-Geheny, while Tarek el-Erian wrote the story and directed the movie. The film includes a duet song between famous singers Assala and Mahmoud Elessily.
