CAIRO – 4 November 2017: Saudi drama/comedy film “Barakah Meets Barakah” (2016) will be screening on Thursday at Cima in Cairo’s downtown, followed by a discussion.
Directed and written by Mahmoud Sabbagh, the film depicts a Saudi love story amid dark humor that is used to ease the difficulties the couple faces in battling for their relationship.

Starring Hisham Fageeh, Fatima, Al Banawi and Khairia Nazmi, among others, the film has proven a success in the Arabic film industry and won an award in the Berlin Film Festival. The free-entry event will feature a film discussion following the screening conducted by film critic Ahmed Shawky, according to the event’s official page.

Cima is a cinematic venue that seeks to revive the old concept of cinema clubs, in which films used to be screened and followed by a deep discussion to understand the concepts of the film’s story and climax. The venue is trying to modernize that concept through screening rare, modern films that haven’t launched in Egyptian cinema halls, in parallel to defining a unique connection between the viewer and the messages revealed in this form of art.

In efforts to meet these aims, Cima screens two films per week, followed by group discussions that are led by active members in the film industry.
