CAIRO – 31 October 2017:

The 10th Panorama European Film

will host director Tamer El Said in the “Carte Blanche” section during the festival that runs from November 8 to November 18.

First launched in the festival’s seventh edition, the “Carte Blanche” section aims to preset three Egyptian directors’ European film choices and this year El Said will be part of this section after being chosen for Theodoros Angelopoulo’s “Eternity and a Day.”

The film revolves around the great author Alexander who is preparing to leave his home by the sea; meanwhile he finds a letter from his wife Anna reminding him of summer memories from 30 years ago. He later becomes part of a journey that merges the past with the present as he chases the chimerical words of his novels and meets joyful moments of his life that he wishes to keep for eternity.

This edition of Panorama will be diversifying the Egyptian cinematic scene and introducing larger numbers of Egyptian audiences to new films. The festival has expanded to a total of six governorates including Cairo.

Spanning 11 days, the Panorama of the European Film will present to the audiences the latest award-winning European features, documentaries and short films.

The program includes a selection of over 50 films, all yet to be announced, and a diverse parallel program of workshops, master classes and talks with international film industry guests.

Zawya Cinema and Zamalek Cinema will serve as Cairo's two primary venues, while the Goethe Institute and the French Institute will host free screenings for select films.
