CAIRO – 15 October 2017: Egyptian artist Amr Diab wins Best Male Singer in North Africa and Tunisian artist Amani Swissi wins Best Singer in North Africa for the 2017 Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) on Saturday.

AFRIMMA was established in 2014 under the sponsorship of the African Union delegation and aims to spread African music across the world. The awards ceremony is expected to take place on November 3 at Nigeria.

The fourth edition of AFRIMMA aims to cross boundaries with music through these prestigious awards. The festival took off on October 8 featuring two new categories including Best Lusophone and Best Francophone.

The new categories are meant to shed light on artists from these regions on the world stage, according to the festival’s official website.
