CAIRO – 6 September 2017: Madaar will host a jazz performance by Egypt’s Gypsy Jazz Project on September 9.

The Gypsy Jazz Project is influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, whose Gypsy Jazz tunes date back to before 1937. One of their biggest hits is “Minor Swing.”

The band is known in the jazz scene for playing various types of tunes including swing, waltz, and sometimes, quiet tranquil music. The band consists of seven members: Andrew Guindi - Gypsy guitar, Amr Soliman - Gypsy guitar, Michael Adel - Gypsy guitar, Amir Latif - violin, Ashraf Rezk - accordion, Andrew Safwat - bass and Monica Roshdy - vocals.
The Gypsy Jazz project performed many widely-attended concerts this year at several venues, including Room Space Art & Café, Bab 18 Art Space, Underground Cairo, and the Cairo Jazz Club.
