CAIRO – 2 September 2017: Award-winning Swiss composer and pianist Nik Bärtsch will be playing a solo performance at Cairo Opera House on September 19 and Bibliotheca Alexandrina on September 21 as part of his Middle East tour.

Borin in Zurich in 1971, Bärtsch studied philosophy, linguistics and musicology. He then became an instructor at Musikhochschule and cofounded the music club EXIL. He is also the founder of Ronin Rhythm Records.

In 1999 and 2002, Bärtsch received two Career Awards, one from the UBS Cultural Foundation and the latter from the city of Zurich. He also received an appreciation award from the town of Zollikon.
