The Mummification Museum in Luxor.
On the occasion of International Museum Day, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has decided to grant Egyptians free admission to museums open for visits on Monday, May 18.
The decision excludes three museums: the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
Museums will also organize archaeological exhibitions, cultural and artistic activities, awareness events, and guided tours as part of the celebration.
May 18 was designated as International Museum Day in coordination with the International Council of Museums to highlight a specific theme that changes annually, reflecting a relevant issue or topic facing museums worldwide.
