CAIRO – 20 January 2022: Sayed Darwish Opera House in Alexandria is organizing a concert for jazz musician Yehia Khalil on January 20. 

 

 

 

 

During the concert, Khalil will present a collection of his most popular melodies, as well as the melodies of the pioneering Egyptian musicians of the golden era.

 

 

 

 

Khalil will be accompanied by some of the best musicians in Egypt during the concert.

 

 

 

 

It is worth noting that Yahya Khalil is an Egyptian composer, player and musician, famous for his jazz compositions. He is considered the pioneer of jazz music in Egypt and the Arab world. His career began in 1966 when he traveled to study in the United States.

 

 

 

 

He participated in the establishment of the Cairo Quadruple Jazz Band in 1957, and he founded his first band in 1979. He has participated in presenting many television programs, including (The World of Jazz) and presented the theme music of the program “Hakawi el-Ahawe” [The Tales of Coffee Shops].

 

 

 

 

Khalil also participated in artistic and cinematic works, cooperated with many famous singers, including Mohamed Mounir, and performed many concerts around the world.

 

 

 

 

Moreover, Khalil has been honored several times. He starred in the company of famous jazz musicians such as Oliver Jones, Dave Young, Van Freeman, and James Moody, and played with Dizzy Gillesby in the concert held at the opening of the new Egyptian opera in 1989.

 

 

 

 

On a similar note, the musician Selim Sahab will perform a concert at the Cairo Opera House on January 20. During the concert, Sahab will present a number of his most popular music compositions.
