EGX ends Sunday on mixed note, market cap. loses LE 3.68B

CAIRO – 24 January 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s session on mixed note,losing LE 3.68 billion of market capitalization, amid Egyptian and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 dropped 1.11 percent, or 129.33 points, to end at 11,525.25 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 declined 0.17 percent, or 3.88 points, to end at 2,345.45 points.

On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 increased 0.73 percent, or 3.88 points, to close at 2,328.85 points, and the broader index EGX 100 rose 0.40 percent, or 13.17 points, to close at 3,341.36 points.

Market capitalization lost around LE 3.68 billion, recording LE 689.6 billion, compared to LE 693.29 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 572.26 million shares, traded through 49,653 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.5 billion. 

Arab investors were net buyers at LE 28.69 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 10.55 million, and LE 18.14 million, respectively. 

Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 23.68 million, and LE 254,467, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net sellers at LE 22.09 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 11.5 million, and LE 5 million, respectively, while foreign organization sold at LE 18.39 million.

Samad Misr -EGYFERT, International Co For Investment & Development, and Giza General Contracting were top gainers of the session at 9.30 percent, 8.48 percent and 8.45 percent, respectively. 

Meanwhile, Reacap Financial Investments, El Arabia Engineering Industries, and Cairo Pourtly were top losers of the session by 3.19 percent, 2.62 percent, and 2.47 percent, respectively.

On Thursday, EGX ended trading in green: as EGX30 hiked 0.48 percent, EGX 50 jumped 0.47percent, EGX 70  increased 0.39 percent, and EGX 100 rose 0.45 percent.
