EGX shows mixed performance Sunday, market cap. gains LE 3.53B

CAIRO - 17 January 2021: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s session on mixed note, adding LE 3.53 billion to market capitalization, amid Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 inched down 0.06 percent, or 6.9 points, to end at 11,446.53 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 decreased 1.01 percent, or 22.74 points, to close at 2,277.37points, and the broader index EGX 100 declined 0.66 percent, or 21.55 points, to close at 3,274.35points.

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 0.32 percent, or 7.41 points, to end at 2,330.78 points.

Market capitalization gained around LE 3.53 billion, recording LE 681.34 billion, compared to LE 677.81 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 533.51 million shares, traded through 46,259 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.36 billion. 

Arab investors were net buyers at LE 26.74 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 15.14 million, and LE 11.6 million, respectively. 

Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 15.41 million,  and LE 4,704, respectively, while Egyptian individuals net sellers at LE 58.52 million.

Egyptian, and Arab organizations bought at LE 43.38 million, and LE 11.3 million, respectively, while foreign organization sold at LE 11.6 million.

Ismailia Development and Real Estate Co, El Arabia for Land Reclamation, and Samad Misr -EGYFERT were top gainers of the session at 9.73 percent, 8.69 percent and 8.60 percent, respectively. 

Meanwhile, Egyptian Iron & Steel, Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance, and Egypt for Pourtly were top losers of the session by 9.90 percent, 6.52 percent, and 3.84 percent, respectively.

On Thursday, EGX ended trading in green: as EGX30 rose 0.57 percent, EGX 50 hiked 0.55 percent, EGX 70 increased 1.20 percent, and EGX 100 climbed 0.85 percent.
