CAIRO - 21 September 2020: Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday chaired a meeting to discuss steps taken to transfer the tablet manufacturing technology to Egypt.

Minister of Education Tarek Shawki, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Morsi attended the meeting along with a host of senior officials from relevant state bodies.

The ministers posted the premier on the outcome of negotiations with global companies to cooperate for localizing the tablet industry in Egypt, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.

Madbouli directed the officials to prepare a bidding document for local tablet manufacturing, including clear-cut requirements that oblige bidders to ensure at least 60% of local manufacturing components and high-quality output.

He noted that technical specifications would be identified by the education ministry.
