EGX continues its downtrend, market cap. loses LE 2.67B

CAIRO – 25 February 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) continues its downtrend for the third session this week, losing around LE 2.67 billion of market capitalization, amid foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX 30 dropped 0.85 percent, or 113.6 points, to close at 13,328.26 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 declined 0.20 percent, or 3.68 points, to end at 1,806.49 points.

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 lessened 0.09 percent, or 1.12 points, to close at 1,215.36 points, and the broader index EGX 100 inched down 0.05 percent, or 0.69 points to 1,328.38 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 2.67 billion, recording LE 678.47 billion, compared to LE 681.15 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 144.42 million shares, traded through 20,092 transactions, with a turnover of LE 594.5 million.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 55.87 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 46.07 million, and LE 9.79 million, respectively.

Foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 802,452, while Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 37.81 million, and LE 5.27 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 8.26 million, and LE 4.52 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 55.07 million.

Ismailia National Food Industries, Ismailia Development and Real Estate Coand Ismailia Misr Poultry were top gainers of the session 14.26 percent, 9.22 percent and 8.68 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, El Nasr Clothes & Textiles (Kabo), Medical Packaging Company, and Misr National Steel - Ataqa were top losers of the session by 5.34 percent, 5.03 percent, and 4.69 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Monday’s session in red, as: EGX 30 dropped 1.80 percent, EGX 50 declined 3.10 percent, EGX 70 lessened 3.16 percent, and EGX 100 decreased 2.41 percent.
